Bahia Honda State Park

Bahia Honda State Park is located in the Florida Keys. The park offers visitors a chance to experience the unique ecosystem of the Keys. Bahia Honda is also home to a number of rare and endangered plants and animals.

The plants and animals of Bahia Honda State Park are varied and diverse. The park is home to over 50 species of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, as well as countless numbers of plants and birds.

Myakka River State Park

The 58-square-mile park is home to the Myakka River, Florida’s first Wild and Scenic River. The park is filled with wildlife and features a tea-colored stream and arching palm trees.

You can take a canoe or kayak tour on the river or explore the surrounding trails and backroads. The park is a popular spot for outdoor recreation, such as kayaking and bird watching.

The park was first opened in 1942 on what was once a cattle ranch. It was purchased from the Palmer family in the 1930s and developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in partnership with the Florida Park Service and National Park Service.

These workers built many of the park’s original buildings, some of which are still used today. Once a grassy prairie, the area changed from a sparse, open grassland to shrub and tree areas when lightning struck the land.

The large swimming pool is open year-round, with two picnic areas. One by the pool and another in the back of the park; there are 3 outdoor charcoal grills at this location as well!
The Laundry building houses 13 units – 9 washers/7 dryers — all available for tenants’ use only after hours so you can do your laundry when it’s most convenient for YOU!!
There’s plenty of Community Building space inside too–a large recreation hall perfect for bingo games or crafts on
Pets are welcome at this park, but there are a few rules you should know.

For starters – no Pit Bulls or Rottweilers!
That also goes for Chow Chows and Doberman Pinschers too; they’re not allowed insecure breeds either so don’t even try thinking about bringing them here (unless you’re wealthy…maybe…j/k!).
