The first mayor of Greensboro was Dr. O.W. Gardner, who assumed office in 1907 and held it until 1950. Murray Spooner was chosen as mayor in 1951.

Earl Willis and Buddy Pitts were his successors, and Pitts held the position until his death in 2016.

The town was home to a bank, eight general businesses, a top-notch high school, a hotel, a Baptist and Methodist church, and other facilities by 1927.

Beef, hogs, turpentine, resin, and syrup were all produced at Greensboro.

It also had a thresher for peanuts and a grist mill. In addition to producing flour, it also produced other products, including honey and cane syrup.
