From the Emerald Coast Parkway, scenic Highway 30A begins about two miles east of Sandston. The road jogs straight down to the Gulf of Mexico, then arcs around Stallworth Lake and winds along the water’s edge through South Walton to Rosemary Beach.

Dune Allen Beach, a small enclave of residential single-family and multifamily vacation homes, can be found around the bend in the road, some of which have been present for decades. Dune Allen Beach was once home to people from all over the world who came to work on the lumber plantations in the late 1800s.

Dune Allen is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, Stallworth Lake, and Oyster Lake. These coastal dune lakes are rare and valuable since they are found in only a few places on the planet.

Tides from the Gulf flow into these lakes on a regular basis, producing a unique environment for a variety of plants and fauna. Dune Allen Beach has three public beach access locations.

There’s a small one near Stallworth Lake on the western edge, and another at Vizcaya on the eastern edge. Near the middle of the other two is the primary beach access, which has full restroom facilities and a beach walkover.
